The Purrpose - It's About the Cats strives to be 100% transparent in our operations and how donations are used.

Founded in July 2024, we have come far - but have so much further to go. Our intention is to provide easy access to the information that may mean the most to you as you consider partnering or leveraging our resources.

Our Values

As we continue to grow and clearly articulate our mission, we know that sharing our values is important to our partners, and also the communities we serve.

Filling the Gap

We don’t try to do everything, and we try not to duplicate what other organizations already do well. We focus where help is hardest to find: the community cat no one else can help, the complicated rescue, the colony that has fallen through the cracks. When a cat has no other option, we want to be a part of the answer.

Humane Treatment

What each cat needs will be different. Understanding those needs and how we can help is where we start, and where we finish. Based on veterinary guidance and experience, we will always act with the cat's best interest first.

Compassion

Rarely do we encounter the same exact situation twice. Just like no two cats are the same, people are equally unique. Using experience, education and our hearts as much as our minds, we strive to manage the stress for both cats and humans alike. We know that seeing a cat trapped can be stressful for the humans watching, but we also understand the fear and panic that a cat goes through in those moments. Making decisions that are in the cat’s best interest will always be our choice.

Integrity

What we do isn’t easy. How we respond to each situation defines us. Every time. Integrity means we do what we say, and say what we do. We strive to do the right thing for the cat, even when no one is watching, and even when it’s hard.

We understand local and state ordinances, and those that enforce them. We value relationships and partners. When we have to make the hard decisions, we will always do our best to act with the highest level of integrity.

Collaboration

No one person or organization can solve it all. Together, however, we become mighty and impactful. We choose our volunteers and partner organizations based on the collaboration and impact we make together. Our relationships are as strong as the honesty we share with each other, and as much as we respect what everyone brings to the effort.

Mom First

Never will there be a time when we are excited to spay a pregnant cat. There will always be a time when we are grateful and relieved that we can give a “baby having babies” or female cat the opportunity to simply be a cat. A female cat never asked to get pregnant, have babies or choose to struggle as a mother. And, no kitten ever asked to die. Our efforts are always focused on giving THAT cat the best chance at a healthy life.

What does this mean? We know that we cannot help every cat. What we do know is that we can be a part of the solution, a part of the big picture, and to lean in wherever we can. By partnering with others, being knowledgeable, creating & curating comprehensive resources and tools - we can empower our community to do more, and to collectively ensure that no cat gets left behind.

How do we get there?

Through trap-neuter-return, owned cat spay/neuter assistance, complicated rescues, or humane euthanasia, we will work to reduce feline overpopulation. There is a future where our sanctuary will be the place that rescues and organizations call when there is no other option for a community cat.

This may seem simple - and it is. We're not neurosurgeons - we want to see and ensure healthy cats by reducing the number of unnecessary cat/kitten births and deaths.

Sometimes decisions are hard. What we commit to, however, is that our decisions are made in the best interest of cats. And this may mean that human feelings must be set aside. Moving ahead, we will share any key decisions that we make, or key items that we vote on in this space. This will be updated on a monthly basis, however, we will keep these details on a historical basis, contained within our Meeting Minutes.
